Cold or Flu
So it's a Happy New Year but not a great start for me as I picked up a bug on the 31st which ran it's course and I am only starting to feel better today 6 days later!!

Was looking for some time off the bike but not like that, always wary of explaining bug's as Flu but I think this time I can say it was. Will be looking to get back to riding either later today or tomorrow but it will be gently does it.

Tour de Lanza 2010
Last year the Hardie Clan upped sticks and headed to Playa Blanca after the first Cross race for a bit of family/training time, this seemed to make all the difference as on my return I managed to get a win at the Mugdock Cross :)
Last year I certainly needed to up my game as the legs were a bit dull in the first race. This year we returned to Playa a week later for some of the same as last year, bit different as I have already started coming into the form with a win in the series so this trip was more about maintenance of the legs and chillaxing instead of trying to get some form.

This worked out great and it's been a cracking week in brill weather with the family and a bit 'o' biking to boot, this year runs consisted of about 1hr in duration up to 2 1/2hrs which was more than ample. The biking was made even better as I hooked up with good friend and bike nut like myself Fraser who through Facebook seen I was heading out at the same week, was great to get out with a mate in a different part of the world :) The Femes climb out of Playa is always better with company in tow, a bit of suffering shared never seems as bad lol!

So as I write this descending into Glasgow I am sure the weather will be slightly colder/wetter than the 28/29 we have enjoyed over the past week :) Being in the Lanza Sun should have set me up for the rest of the Cyclocross season in good stead, let's have it!!

New scoot
Out for a ride on my new Madone tonight and it certainly feels like it gives me an extra 2/3 mile an hour advantage without trying!
Colours are fantastic match for the Hardie-Bikes.com Team Colours

Still easy
Out on the bike today for the first time in about 3 weeks and felt alright although I was keeping myself back from pushing at all. During the run I did see some freaky heart rates than I am not use to, example is my max is 188 and I seen 184 even when I wasn't even pushing it!!

This is a great forward step (Cycle) as just one week ago I was having trouble walking never mind Cycling.

Mini Review: Nike Pursue Glasses

The Pursue are a very good fit on the face and can be custom shaped to your head as the arms can be moulded to shape and this comes in handy for me as my head is quite small meaning some glasses hang out the back slightly. The other good point of this is the arms can be moulded down out of the way of some helmet securing systems as these sometimes can get in the way.
The other points on the design is that the lens has what Nike calls the flying lens system meaning that the lens is attached at only two points on the frame so the air can circulate to avoid the lens fogging over. The nose bridge has also got design points as it has grooves to again help the air movement and keep your vision clear.

The lens that the Pursue comes with is the Max Speed tint which is not a heavy tint meaning you can run with this in most low light conditions up to dusk, this is a good thing in Scotland as the sun can be out one minute and away the next meaning you can start out with this lens and finish your run even if the sun drops. If however you are cycling at night then a Clear lens will be needed and if you are going to start out with the weather dull/overcast then my favorite lens at the moment is the Hi-Vis Tint which are fantastic at bringing out all the detail on a dull day which gives you confidence on descents and low light conditions.
Cheers for reading.
